BTS Leader RM Announces Groundbreaking Solo Art Exhibition at SFMOMA in 2026
BTS leader RM, also known as Kim Nam-joon, has announced his first solo art exhibition titled "RM x SFMOMA," which will be held at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art from October 2026 to February 2027. This collaboration marks the first time a K-pop artist partners with SFMOMA since the museum’s founding in 1935.
The exhibition will feature over 200 works, showcasing RM's personal art collection alongside selected pieces from SFMOMA's holdings. RM, who has been an avid art collector since 2018, will co-curate the exhibition with SFMOMA curators América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim. The collection will blend Korean modern and contemporary art with notable works by international masters such as Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Paul Klee.
RM expressed that the show represents a bridge between different cultures, times, and perspectives. He stated, "This exhibition at SFMOMA reflects boundaries: between East and West, Korea and America, the modern and the contemporary, the personal and the universal... My only hope is that this exhibition can be a small but sturdy bridge for many."
The timing of the exhibition coincides with BTS's upcoming full group comeback planned for spring 2026, following the completion of all members' mandatory South Korean military service this year, underscoring RM’s continued multifaceted creative expression beyond music.
This milestone exhibition not only highlights RM's refined aesthetic sensibility and collecting philosophy but also signals a historic cultural bridge connecting Eastern and Western contemporary art worlds through the lens of one of K-pop’s most influential figures.telegraphindia +4
